Relationships

Hi everyone,

Today, I revised eight micro-tension pages and deleted 139 words to make way for the added micro-tension.

It took up most of my writing time but I did manage to get onto my missing scene for The Search For Magic that I am discovery writing. I have my main character and a secondary character alone together and I want to give them a moment of mutal understanding and care. This secondary character is the source of the conflict later but here, I want to give them time apart from others.

He’s my B-story character and acts as a mentor/loyal friend to my main character, Ashlin. In this scene, I want to strengthen their friendship. All I got a chance to do is get them alone. I want my Ashlin to notice something about him. That something is off. He’s always taking care of her. Here I want her to take care of him or at least try.

I’m looking forward to writing it tomorrow but I have to get through my micro-tension pages first which means I have to read 30 pages in my random page draft to find enough pages to edit. It’s fun but time consuming.

Relationships:

In terms of relationships, I think that if you want to further closeness between two character-platonic of love interest, you first need to do a few things:

  1. They should be alone together a few times.

  2. They should show concern for one another. (It shouldn’t all be one sided)

  3. They should each confide in the other with something that they’ve told no one.

  4. They should touch and that touch should be accepted by the other character-just a hand placed lightly on an arm is enough. We only willingly let people we like into our personal space. This is a good indicator of trust and mutual like.

  5. They should support each other.

  6. They should make each feel better when the other person is feeling down and dejected.

This isn’t an exhaustive list but it’s a good place to start.

Anyway, that’s all for tonight. Nothing earth-shattering.

Talk to you tomorrow,

Happy writing,

Joanne.
